The Journal Tyne Theatre is a Grade 1 listed building and is both beautiful and functional, with a capacity of 1100. It has played host to an assortment of events from opera to pantomimes and concerts to conferences. Recent performances at the theatre include Hanson, Newton Faulkner, Kate Rusby and Adele.

Located in the centre of Newcastle, The Journal Tyne Theatre is easily accessible by the city's varied public transport systems. There is a choice of off-street parking nearby and a wealth of restaurants, shops, hotels and local amenities. The venue is now operated by SMG Europe, (who also operate and own the Metro Radio Arena) and is sponsored by The Journal newspaper.
