Industry Feedback For Bands
Industry feedback for bands from the Live and Unsigned Grand Final Rock category. The hottest unsigned acts from across the UK took to the stage at London’s O2 to perform to a fantastic line up of music industry judges and battle it out to be named the best unsigned act.
Judges presiding over the Rock Grand Final included; Aled Philips from Kids In Glass Houses, Daniel P Carter from Radio 1, Ryan Richards from Funeral For A Friend, Kerrang’s Alex Baker, Ollie Russel-Pearcey from Blackstar, Tom Dare from Metal Hammer, and Future Music’s head of A&R Ben Price.
The competition was fierce and the standard was extremely high, well done to all the acts for putting on a great show! The judges saw some outstanding performances and had tough decisions to make! Congratulations to all acts that made it through to the National Grand Final at Live Fest in London’s O2.

Industry Feedback For Rock Bands
Believe In F.A.T.E
Aled Phillips: Singer has a good voice, but they seemed to lose each other a bit.
Daniel P Carter: Being the first band has got to be tough but they coped well.
Ryan Richards: Cover was quite nice, but they need more rehearsal overall.
Alex Baker: Need to tighten up.
Ollie Russell Pearcey: Originality could be improved.
Tom Dare: Great enthusiasm.
Ben Price: Shaky vocal start. So loose need to tighten up as a band. Passion is there but need more rehearsal.
Devil’s Answer
Aled Phillips: Good with the crowd. Had fun, but the cover was a bit loose.
Daniel P Carter: I was expecting it to be a bit more Scandanavian.
Ryan Richards: Charismatic. Good cover. Good harmonies.
Alex Baker: Bass player was super tight.
Ollie Russell- Pearcey: A red and yellow Kiss. Don’t need to hind behind gimmicks. Love that they tried to work the crowd.
Tom Dare: Look amazing. Huge effort. Needs more variation and riffage!
Ben Price: Nice original song and they look decent. Lots of character in the image but make sure you’re not a tribute act. Control vocals, no need to shout. Nice bass.
Edged
Aled Phillips: Good confidence but I don’t know why he sat down. Maybe a bit over the top.
Daniel P Carter: Fair play!
Ryan Richards: Singer good. Charisma, original.
Alex Baker: Great voice. Very theatrical.
Ollie Russell- Pearcey: So much passion!
Tom Dare : Great frontman with loads of passion, performance and showmanship.
Ben Price: Not tight. Good performance stage wise and loads of passion. Felt like they were playing against each other at times.
Fall to Oblivion
Aled Phillips: Tight. Wicked musicians. Cover – No!
Daniel P Carter: Bass player had both hands on the fretboard, win! Backstreet, win!
Ryan Richards: Energetic, good musicianship, good harmonies, good cover.
Ollie Russell- Pearcey: Convincing metal core. Not hugely original. Best cover so far.
Tom Dare: Amazing cover of Backstreet Boys, and good musicality.
Ben Price: Great voice, a rare case of screaming being productive. Decent tight band and well-rehearsed. Great choice of cover.
Haunted Tranquillity
Aled Phillips: Gaga is sacred. Good musicians. Drummer is awesome. Confident.
Daniel P Carter: Gaga – love her stuff!
Ryan Richards: Good scream! Good style. They look like a band. Good rhythm.
Alex Baker: Great screams!
Ollie Russell- Pearcey: Scream with a British accent was cool. Awesome set of lungs.
Tom Dare: Nice Gaga cover. Good ability.
Ben Price: Great hair! Lead guitar a little off the pace. Good stage performance. Singing voice not as good as his screaming. Lady Gaga cover lacked a bit of energy in verses. Overall a good cover.
Hitomi
Aled Phillips: Singer is a bit pitchy. Tight band.
Daniel P Carter: Another Gaga cover, love it!
Ryan Richards: Tight and professional. Good voice.
Ollie Russell- Pearcey: Great attempt at voiced harmonies.
Tom Dare: Interesting cover, good energy from the guitarist and strong lead vocals.
Ben Price : Shaky vocal start. Grew in confidence. Good drummer. Got better as they went along. Wrong cover choice didn’t suit his vocal.
Loud N Proud
Aled Phillips: Yes! Guitarist is sick! Awesome voice.
Daniel P Carter: Properly ace!
Ryan Richards: Great drummer. Guitarist great.
Alex Baker: The lead guitarist is immense. Very polished for such a young band.
Ollie Russell- Pearcey: Tightest band so far and so young! Loadsa talent.
Tom Dare: Brilliant! Loads of presence from such a young band.
Ben Price: Very good start to cover girls voice is angelic and a very original. They’re great on stage as ever. She is a star in the making. Great energy from all members.
Pandemick
Aled Phillips: Good musicians – tight.
Daniel P Carter: Great cover choice.
Ryan Richards: Singing drummer is cool. Charismatic. Good lead guitar.
Ollie Russell- Pearcey: Singing drummer absolutely killed it.
Tom Dare: Always great to see a drummer on vocals. Big ballsy riffage!
Ben Price: Shaky vocal start but got stronger as he went on. Very talented man. Loads of energy throughout. Excellent visually.
Promo Girl
Aled Phillips: Drummer needs to hit his drums. Too many covers.
Daniel P Carter: Gaga again!
Ryan Richards: Strong image and star quality. Good voice and sweet dance moves.
Alex Baker: Entertaining but I’m not sure if for the right reasons!
Tom Dare: Highly entertaining. Mad and strangely engaging.
Ben Price: Image is original but a little dated. Very pop based. Good pop based song. Frontman has it. Good original choice of cover.
Stereofuel
Aled Phillips: Not a bad singer. Quite tight.
Daniel P Carter: Geezers Need Excitement! Ace.
Ryan Richards: Charismatic frontman. Good edgy sound. Rock ‘n’ Roll!
Alex Baker: Good tunes but needed a bit more ‘performance’.
Tom Dare: Needs much more going on.
Ben Price: Passionate frontman performance but his voice needs more power. Played their instruments well. Nice and tight.
Ten Zero One
Aled Phillips: Mini Lemmy!
Daniel P Carter: Any dude playing chords on a Rickenbacker gets my approval!
Ryan Richards: Good drummer. Baby Lemmy!
Alex Baker: Strong for such a young band.
Ollie Russell- Pearcey: Fairly tight but need to make it more interesting.
Tom Dare: Good effort from all, just needs to tighten up and give it some oomph.
Ben Price: Needed more performance and passion. Good for the age but work in progress rather than finished article.
The Fringe
Aled Phillips: Tight band. Vocals and lyrics need to be a bit more creative and varied.
Daniel P Carter: I’m into it.
Ryan Richards: Confident with good energy.
Alex Baker: Definitely good ability-wise but need to hone your original material.
Ollie Russell- Pearcey: Nice flourish at the end. Would have liked to have seen more of that throughout.
Tom Dare: Intense, committed and nicely aggressive.
Ben Price: Good frontman drumming needs to be more expansive to make it a spectacle.
Welcome to Purgatory
Aled Phillips: Ditch the synch moves. Drum harder. Tight band with good presence and stage command.
Daniel P Carter: Tasty breakdown was tasty.
Ryan Richards: Good energy and honesty.
Alex Baker: Tight but need more dynamics.
Ollie Russell- Pearcey: Finally a nice freaking breakdown in the Rock Final!
Tom Dare: Gnarly, brutal and splendid.
Ben Price: More energy from rest of band please. Got better as they went along.
The Tiny Face Experience
Aled Phillips: Nice bass playing. Good drummer. Committed performance.
Daniel P Carter: Got their s**t together!
Ryan Richards: Tight and energetic band.
Ollie Russell- Pearcey: Nice use of the stage. Could do with more original material.
Ben Price: Great energy and passion. Just needs refining.
