Cancer Bats Played MusicRadar Live and Unsigned Tour

The Cancer Bats have just played the MusicRadar Live and Unsigned Tour, wowing London Audiences. The band are Canada’s biggest and loudest punk metal band and have almost single-handedly rejuvenated the worldwide Hardcore scene over the past five years. Cancer Bats consist of grimy hardcore behemoths Liam Cormier on Vocals, Scott Middleton on Guitar, Jaye Schwarzer on Bass and Mike Peters on Drums.

Since 2006 the band have been defining the punk metal scene pushing out dirty, driving drum beats, ferocious lyrics and blistering vocals and are a band that like to travel and meet their fans up close and personal! Whilst headlining the MusicRadar Live and Unsigned Tour at the Beck Theatre in Hayes, the Cancer Bats played tracks from their album Bears, Mayors, Scraps and Bones, as well as a few brand new tracks from their forthcoming album.

This was not your average headlining spot, as the Cancer Bats played a matinee performance, having come straight off the plane from their European tour for one of two UK dates before they headed off to Denmark. As they dived into a thirty minute epic performance, vocal supremo Liam Cormier commented that it was great to play in a theatre and even quipped “I think I might perform some spoken word poetry!”

Fans from all across the UK had travelled to see this rare UK performance from the foursome, two devoted fans had travelled down from Birmingham for the half hour set and were following the band to their next gig that day in Nottingham, when asked if it was worth it, there was only one reply “Hell Yeah!”

After the set, the Cancer Bats headed to meet the fans for a signing and catch up with the Live and Unsigned team in the foyer, which is where we grabbed a thirty second interview...

L&U: If you had words of wisdom for unsigned acts looking to progress, what would they be?

Mike: Play as much as you can, practice hard and just have fun

Jaye: No, it’s simple, you’ve just got to write the best song ever written

Mike: Yeah, scrap my answer just write the best song in the world

L&U: So what’s it like being back in the UK, are you playing much here this year?

Mike: Well we were doing just two gigs, but now we’re going to be back for Sonisphere. We like it here, got some great fans

L&U:  Tell me something few people know about you...

Scott: My favourite cheese is Red Leicester

Mike: Mine’s a good brie, Jaye’s is Halloumi

Jaye: Yeah deep fried Halloumi  - it's good!
