Blog 4: Bonnie Baddoo

Hi, I’m Bonnie Baddoo and this is the story of my journey with Live And Unsigned.

I’ve always had a passion for music and as I grew so did my love for it. The problem was I lacked the confidence to ever take it further than my bedroom. My dad, being a musician himself has always believed in me and put all his efforts into helping me flourish as a musician.

I started to do public performances at school and other events and eventually joined my current band, Sax Appeal. For years I had been composing my own material but never took it anywhere.

My dad told me about the Live and Unsigned competition and it sounded like a perfect stepping stone towards making a career in music, something that to me has been a life long dream.

I soon found myself at an audition in Cardiff, shaking, guitar in hand not knowing what would become of it.

I had never succeeded in anything before, so when I heard that me, a young bag of nerves, had progressed to the regional finals in Cardiff, I just couldn’t believe that this was really happening to me!

Over the next few weeks I prepared myself for the next stage by gigging, selling tickets and going on Cardiff’s local radio station.

I never dreamed that I would get through to the semi-finals in London. I remember before the results I could barely breathe, I was terrified. Hearing my name being called was one of the greatest moments of my life, I was one step closer to my dream.
