UK’s Biggest Music Contest In Manchester - Results

The UK’s biggest music contest took place in Manchester at Salford’s Willows this weekend, as the Live and Unsigned Regional Final rolled into town.

The Regional Final brought together the best unsigned acts from Lancashire, Liverpool and beyond, in a bid to make it to the Area Final. Acts are now just one-step away from playing the National Grand Final at Live Fest in the O2, London.

The headline acts taking to the stage alongside the Live and Unsigned Regional Finalists in Manchester were Radio 1 favourites Pegasus Bridge - hotly tipped for major chart success in 2011, the boys rocked the stage at the Willows to a packed audience. Live and Unsigned 2011 champions The Lottery Winners, who are fresh from playing the main stage at Italy’s Tour Music Fest, also took to the stage as a guest act and showed exactly why they were the UK’s Best Unsigned Act of 2010.

Judges presiding over the Manchester Regional Final included Mark Orr Head of A&R at Lab Records, Ollie Jackson OSFest Event Coordinator, Claire Curran from OurHouse Music, Louis James-Davis of the Madison Group, UK music examiner Stuart Slater and Grand Central Music’s Rudi Kidd.

With so much talent, it was difficult for the judges to make a decision and the successful acts that are through to the Area Final are listed below. Congratulations to those that made it through to the North West Area Final on Sunday 8th May 2011 at the Willows, Manchester !

Exposure Award – There will be an award for the act with the largest quantity and best quality of submitted publicity material in relation to the competition. The act with the most press cuttings or recorded radio interviews on each Regional Final day will win a prize. As the winner of the prize at the Manchester Regional finals was a solo act, they will receive a free day in a recording studio of their choice, worth up to £250! This goes to Justin McGurk.

For those acts who didn’t get through the Regional Finals, don’t forget to use your Wildcard! All acts have been given a Wildcard in the form of a national public vote. There are two places up for grabs and just two weeks to make your mark, so keep an eye out on the website and get voting for one of those last Area Final spots!
