Aldershot Auditions Feedback from Live and Unsigned Music Competition

Auditions took place in Aldershot for the Live and Unsigned Music Competition on Saturday 26th February at the Princes Hall.  The audition room was buzzing with over 500 musicians and singers giving it their all.

Find below feedback for a selected few from the day who stood out for the right and sometimes wrong reasons.

Stylus Dust – original, but need to be more prepared before the audition next time

By Luck Not Judgement– band needs to have more of a uniform look, off-stage personality needs to be shown on stage, potential is there though

Logan Carter– lovely, original, very confident performer

Dan Andrews– needs to be more in time, look up when performing!

Rob Bartlitz– flawless guitar, great tone of voice, work on image

Cymbaline– amazing voice, need to learn to project and have a think about image

Accident Gallery– drumming needs to be tighter. Good stage presence

Dirty Tricks– started off very together, guitarist needs to get more involved, the drummer and singer shone through

Bury the Hatchet– good performance and stage presence, very well timed with the stops

Benjamin Hudson– good voice but needs to sing out more, work on guitar. More practice and you’ll be good

Yasmina– good look, good voice and a well written song, work on vocal tuning,

Black Lysander– catchy, good backing vocals. Nice harmonies and timing need to interact more on stage, otherwise a tight band

Coma 69 – strong vocals and band, the drums and vocals were very dominant

Charlotte Olivia– good timing, tight instruments, Charlotte needs to project her voice more

A different perspective– beautiful vocals, would suggest harmonizing when singing together

CMG – interesting concept, love the energy given to the music

Colt 44– good energy, watch the tempo

Dusque– bongos, extra snares, cow bells, laptop…different but the overall performance needs to be tightened up

Gemma Barnes– sing with track in future to keep in the same key, otherwise, a good voice with potential

Emily Denton– unique style of singing very Kate Nash, interact more with the audience, good confidence

Hollie Feltham– good image and powerful voice, support those high notes, don’t strain them.

Shanay Holmes– great tone, good image, great stage presence, next time choose an easier song

First Hurdle– need energy and to tighten up. Need to interact as a band more, and work on timing

Into tomorrow– more energy from the drummer, confused by image, however there is potential, work on performance

Innovia– for a band that has played together for 6 years, there was little presence onstage. Need to bring more energy to their performance

Nicholas Howe– very different interesting vocals, confident, we loved the original song, good range and energy, very confident, good stage presence and amazingly hit high notes!

Lloyd Horrell– good confidence, love the energy, needs to sing out more, liked your cheeky disposition

Tom Craz– sing to the audience not the mic

Helen and the sirens– different! The violin adds and interesting touch, would like to hear it with the full band. Great dynamics

Oh! my head–  interesting, the look needs to be more united, work on mixing the different genres together to make it flow smoother

Melanie Jane– lovely voice, should bring the attitude with the image

Jack Mason– good voice, should pursue singing more

Sam Mason– sing to the audience, show more confidence, lovely voice and wonderful guitar player

Munkinpure– interesting band, confident, good dynamics, unique different set up, catchy tune, good vocals

Little Signals– good build-up into song, it fell during the chorus, instruments over-powered the vocals

Burn the Mags– you need to interact with each other more, but good energy!

House of Cards– for a young group of boys they’ve got good rhythm and a significant style, just need more experience

Purple Spiral Project– very together, in harmony. Drummer held the band together, the singer has a great vocal, the two guitarists have to shine through

Graham Russ – sing to the audience, you have the voice and rhythm and song writing skills. Needs some confidence

Samusi– so together as a band, the vocals shine above the instruments, oozes confidence, best band seen so far

Strobe Circus– wicked performance! Great confidence from the singer, tight band, great feel to the music, good groove

RetroGrade – brilliant energy, very tight band for such a young age. Can’t wait to see more

Twice My Size– really tight timing, different and lots of confidence can’t wait to see the next performance

People’s Republic– very sellable sound, good clear vocals, solid playing, need to perform as a band more

Ellie Wetsby– a capella cover. Just learning keys so probably wouldn’t be ready to do originals in comp, keep practising and get some live shows in

The Awe Kids– different, love the dynamics in the band, very cool, great image

Jessica Simons– fantastic confidence, great look, very tight will sound good on a big stage

The Falaways– more interaction with each other onstage is neede, interesting sound, lead singer needs to show more showmanship
