Auditions diaries from the acts #8

Audition diaries from the acts themselves from this year’s Live and Unsigned competition are going online in a bid to be in The List Magazine. A week ago we put a call out on our Facebook page for Scottish acts to tell us their stories from the Live and Unsigned auditions for the chance to be in the popular magazine. We’ve had an incredible response from bands and acts and the diaries of their experiences were just so good, we simply couldn’t choose which act to put forward to The List.

That’s where you - the Live and Unsigned fans and supporters come in, the bands and acts’ stories were so brilliant that we wanted to share them with you.  Each day we’re going to put up an act’s diary for you to join in the fun and read, if you like their tale, vote for them on our Facebook page by pressing the Like button or commenting positively on their work. The act with the most support for their diary by the publishing deadline will appear in The List magazine and be followed through the competition.

The Best of luck to all of our Scottish bands and acts who have shared their stories - get voting for your favourite!

Audition Diary of The Secrets? – Glasgow Auditions 5th February 2011

Hearing about Live and Unsigned was a big issue for us, as we want to make music our career. As soon as we got our first email telling us we got an audition, it was a huge confidence boost as it brought us even closer to our dream - which made us feel very excited and we are determined to try and grab it with two hands.

Building up to our audition made us work very hard, booking rehearsal rooms more often and for  longer times,  pushing ourselves to try and get our song as tight as possible. We practiced 3-4 times a week not missing a practice and making sure no one was late!

The band has two members currently working full time (Dylan Etchels- Vocals and Daryn Moran-Drums) with one still attending school (Bradley Rollo- Lead Guitar) and one currently unemployed (Jamie Young- Bass)

On the way to Glasgow, we felt like we could make this our job and feeling confident we were going to nail it, but still shaking and nervous all the way. When we went in we were shocked how many bands turned up, looked like something off those TV shows!

Waiting for our names to be called out for our audition was frightening, and as the time went by the band and our support were shaking, and then the time came! Walking up to that room was one of the scariest moments we have experienced as a band, but we kept our heads held high and just gave it all we had, always reminding each other to give it our all. After we played, it hit us hard –we were all shaking like a leaf and were asking each other “what if they didn't like the lyrics?” and other small things.

Waiting to see if the band got through was the longest wait of our lives, we waited impatiently at the bottom of the stairs, hearing bands getting told they didn't make it through and people’s dreams getting shattered - it started to hit us hard when it was getting close to our name getting called out.

When the guy said a bands name then shouted out our name we just froze as our bellies caved in, and when he announced we got through it was a feeling words can't describe! We jumped about like little kids and shouted at the tops of our voices! It felt like we were getting even closer to the dream we were trying to catch and still to this day we still can't believe out of 500+ bands we made it and we’re only 16 years old, it gave us a massive confidence boost.

For the Regionals, we are going to work even harder on our set and give the judges and audience a performance that will blow them away, snatching up loads of publicity and releasing our single before the regional finals.

We hope people will start to take us more seriously as a young band and get behind us, we won't let the judges down as we are a hard working band and dedicate ourselves to the band. We hope we can make this dream come true and will work hard to get it!

If you like The Secrets?’ tale, you have one week to vote for them  on our Facebook page  by pressing the Like button! Watch out in the few days for some more diary entrants from Glasgow & Edinburgh.
