Auditions diaries from the acts #2

Audition diaries from the acts themselves from this year’s Live and Unsigned competition are going online in a bid to be in The List Magazine. A week ago we put a call out on our Facebook page for Scottish acts to tell us their stories from the Live and Unsigned auditions for the chance to be in the popular magazine. We’ve had an incredible response from bands and acts and the diaries of their experiences were just so good, we simply couldn’t choose which act to put forward to The List.

That’s where you - the Live and Unsigned fans and supporters come in, the bands and acts’ stories were so brilliant that we wanted to share them with you.  Each day we’re going to put up an act’s diary for you to join in the fun and read, if you like their tale, vote for them on our Facebook page by pressing the Like button or commenting positively on their work. The act with the most support for their diary by the publishing deadline will appear in The List magazine and be followed through the competition.

The Best of luck to all of our Scottish bands and acts who have shared their stories - get voting for your favourite!

Audition Diary of Anthony McIntyre – Edinburgh Auditions 29th January 2011

My Name is Anthony McIntyre I auditioned at Edinburgh Corn Exchange .

I am a singer songwriter influenced by my brother and great musicians like: the Beatles, Neil Young, Nick Drake and Dylan.

I'm driven by the pleasure that performing and singing my songs gives me. It’s the best feeling in the world. I was extremely nervous before and after my audition, even though judge and professional singer Rosalind Fountain came out to chat to me and tell me that I need to believe in myself more, because she and the other judges could see my potential.

I was so nervous that I could not look at the judges, even though I had been advised to do so. This was another thing that Rosalind advised me on and gave me a great bit of advice to use if I got through to the next round.

This is the first music competition I have ever entered, and I did not know what to expect, it was very nerve wracking and waiting to be told if I had made it through to the next round was a gut-wrenching time, so when the guy told me I was through to the next stages the relief was overwhelming. I kept punching the air on the journey home; I was so delighted to be through.

Since my first audition for the BBC Blast tour last June, my life has been a whirlwind of rock and roll moments. Seeing my name on a CD for the Inspire gig was amazing, but supporting the owner of Clearwater Studios band, The Red Pine Timber Company was possibly the best moment so far...well until I was told I was through to the next stages of Live and Unsigned!

If you like Anthony’s tale, you have one week to vote for him on our Facebook page  by pressing the Like button! Watch out in the few days for some more diary entrants from Glasgow & Edinburgh.
