Manchester Auditions Feedback From Live and Unsigned Music Competition

Auditions took place in Manchester for the Live and Unsigned Music Competition on Sunday 30thJanuary at the Willows Centre. The auditions were packed with bands and singers, with almost 1,000 musicians auditioning.

Manchester was the second busiest audition to date, with only London having more acts audition! Loads of bands and acts from Liverpool and Blackpool in particular made the journey, with half a dozen acts from Ireland trying to make their mark with the Judges. Acts were auditioning to make it through to the Live showcase finals on the 6th& 27thMarch back at the Willows Centre.

Find below a selected few from the day that stood out for the right and sometimes wrong reasons.

Please be aware views expressed by Judges are opinions and subjective to that particular Judging panel. So please take the feedback onboard with a view to helping.

Coever - intro very long, needed to shorten it for more of an instant impact

Apriori - good tight band, looked the part with a good image and played together as one, cracking audition

Borito- Needs to have visually more as an act, perhaps a singer and maybe backing vocals and or dancers

Jessica Ball- Wow! What a sweet sound, very palatable to the ear - just watch tuning of guitar

Emily Carr- another year to combat the nerves and settle into the song, she’ll be very good in time

Alpha State of Mind- was a strong song, needed more performance from everyone

Evo Cameron Conttroze - Good timing, needs to add performance to the act now to really push on his talent

Ben Noke- really good script, which can’t be a bad thing, very commercial

Coalition - great sound, perhaps missing a trick with a distinct image maybe use the title of the song? Bass player needs to look more interested!

Crawl - had some nice original vocals, band is going places with real potential

Just Don’t Panic- band musically good, but need to perform more

Egri Ego– crazy, crazy, crazy!!

Everyday Goldfish- make sure everyone performs as one

Decc-and Trap- really well rehearsed band who clearly enjoy themselves, however needed to be more vibrant , a bit too old school

Erazer- lead vocals needs performance support from the rest of the band, good front man

Echo Deck- loved the full sound going on!

Joquim Lewerin-  vocally worked really well,  blended and catchy

A Little Bit Outlaw-  good performance, good song, take care on use of backing vocals

Pacific- need to change the name, as never going to be found in a search on the internet

P3- need to perform, perfect an engaging performance and learn mic control. Get the mic close to the vocal and don’t cup the head otherwise you’ll get feedback! If can address this have potential

New Vinyl- loved the catchy juno riffs and scats, gave it a nice edge to a full sound

Real Reason- need to perform through the whole track, especially the instrumental breakdown when the lead vocalist unfortunately didn’t do much

Sophie Liesel Baxter- strong voice, please remember to use the performance area

Sour Mash– very good sax and trumpet, well used but could coordinate their moves more

The Lucky Pennies– great, full sound with a catchy hook, going to do well!
