Sheffield Shines at Live and Unsigned Music Competition Auditions!

Sunday 23rd January saw the Live and Unsigned music competition arrive at the Sheffield City Hall, Sheffield. Over 200 auditionees battled it out for a place in the Regional Final Showcase, the centre was crammed with the best Sheffield had to offer – with talent at every turn!

Bands such as Screaming Maldini, My Friends in Vegas and Sorry Scott to name but a few, caught the eyes of the judges, with solo acts through to the Regional Final Showcase including Olivia Walsh and Dan Clayton.

Please see below for selected Judges feedback from the day – Views expressed by Judges are opinions and subjective to that particular Judge panel. These views in no way reflect the views of Live and Unsigned, but are published with a view to being beneficial to the performing acts, so they may take feedback onboard with a view to helping them.

Screaming Maldini - Great image, quirky and unique

The Culprits - Full sound of guitars that worked superbly, but a bit messy in places, try to tighten up

Area 67 - Good movement, performance and image, much better audition than when we saw them at  Dewsbury...Smashed it this time

Olivia Walsh - Loads of potential, always remember to double check guitar tunings, though

My friends in Vegas – Very lively, all members involved, and made a  really good impact on the room

Hero of the Day – Good potential, need to learn to compliment each other more

Luna Gilet - Good band, need to engage and perform more though

Sorry Scott – Nice sound, lead vocalist needs to perform more rather than look at the guitarists during instrumental

The Change - Lovely song, drummer needs to tighten up and bring more to the group

A Multitude of Sins - A good performance by the front man and was backed up well with backing vocals

Dan Clayton – Song is good, needs to break it down a little more to be engaging live, bring a vocalist to sing vocals live

Everything Can Wait – good band, just need a bit more live performance behind them

Cat Solarium - enjoyed the groove and Sting-like vocals, perhaps needed a stronger hook

Bang Bang Romeo –  Good sound with a powerful projection, but need a cohesive image

Between Concrete - Front man had good presence needs back-up from other members of the band with performance and some backing vocals

Tom Bowers - Just way to nervous and needs more practice, maybe go on the open mic circuit to get better rehearsed

Beth Addenbrooke – lovely voice, but too big a song choice, it proved to be too much as high notes were a little strained

Act of Defiance -  Just need to tighten up and these boys can be a real force in the competition
