Live and Unsigned Music Competition Auditions Bowl Over Basildon!

Saturday 8th January saw the UK’s biggest original music competition, Live and Unsigned arrive at the Pitsea Leisure Centre in Basildon. Over 500 auditionees battled it out for a place in the Regional Final Showcase, the centre was crammed with the best Essex had to offer – with talent at every turn!

Bands such as Empty Headz, Just Another Tourist and Dead Baby Birds to name but a few, caught the eyes of the judges, with Solo acts through to the Regional Final Showcase including Melyssa Amorim, Dodz and Tony Blaize.

Please see below for selected Judges feedback from the day – Views expressed by Judges are opinions and subjective to that particular Judge panel. These views in no way reflect the views of Live and Unsigned, but are published with a view to being beneficial to the performing acts, so they may take feedback onboard with a view to helping them.

Melyssa Amorim – Nice tone, good talent – need to project voice more

Naiha – Nice tone, need to engage with audience more and work on posture

Dodz – Great flow, liked the track

Empty Headz – very together band, Lead vocals well supported on keys

Chase The Enemy – Band members need to listen to each other a little more, good song

Just Another Tourist - Good energy but lead vocals need to project more, getting as close to the mic as possible will help

Shellie Nicholls - Makings of a good song but perhaps working out a different chord structure for the song would make it more exciting and change the dynamic, maybe bring in a guitarist if not your strength

Panic Dance - need to perform more and concentrate on singing

Sara Lilly – good, original song, watch out for her at the showcase

Black Spring Rising - Had a good song but need to perform as one band rather than independently

Dead Baby Birds – good potential, nice to see a trio

Bad Wolf – Drummer was very good, band were good but not quite there yet

Buckle Street – band very together, musically very good

Tony Blaize – nice tones to his voice, good original song

Swagga – nice sound, full and confident
