Radio 1 DJ and Presenter Joins The Judging Panel

Radio 1's Tom Deacon is set to judge the UK's biggest unsigned music competition. Tom currently heads up his own show on Radio 1 featuring music and interviews with celebrity guests and now he will be judging unsigned musicians and bands in Live and Unsigned 2011.

He started out in the industry as a comedian and in 2007 he won Chortle's Student Comedian Award and burst onto the comedy scene, attracting huge attention with his undeniable stage presence and slick timing. As a stand-up Tom has appeared in Edinburgh and Beyond (Comedy Central), and was asked to attend the first stage of Last Comic Standing in Miami.

In 2008 Tom took part in the Edinburgh Festival's longest running group comedy show, The Comedy Zone, which previously launched the careers of Dave Gorman, Harry Hill, Stewart Lee, Al Murray and Ross Noble. Here Tom was deemed the star of this years show by the Sunday Times ‘with looks, confidence, charm and great material. Expect other comics to lynch him.

As well as hosting his Radio 1 show, Tom can currently be seen presenting 5:19 - a youth orientated show for BBC Switch featuring comedy sketches, music and celebrity interviews. He can also be seen performing stand up on the new BBC Two show The Rob Brydon Show.
