Jimi Savage

Jimi found the guitar at the age of fifteen and was inspired by players such as Edward Van Halen, Yngwie Malmsteen, Joe Satriani & Steve Vai, Michael Lee Firkins, Jeff Beck, Scott Henderson and Paul Gilbert.

Having contributed for Total Guitar by writing the monthly rock column from 1994 – 1998, Jimi now teaches in his own studio; Savage Guitar Studio based in Newcastle upon Tyne. He was awarded the R.G.T guitar teacher of the year 2006 and runner up in 2007! Jimi holds workshops throughout the UK and Europe and has appeared at many guitar shows. Jimi has also written music for TV and Radio.

Jimi Savage has worked with some of the greats of the guitar world, including  Ritchie Sambora (Bon Jovi), Jennifer Batten (Michael Jackson), Van Halen, Yngwie Malmsteen, Joe Satriani, Steve Vai, Michael Lee Firkins, John Petrucci (Dream Theatre), Martin Taylor, John Abercombie, Dominic Miller (Sting), Scott Henderson, Isaac Guillory, Steve Fairclough, Mark Knopfler (Dire Straits), Phil Hilborne (Guitar Techniques), Lawrence Juber (Paul McCartney), Paul Gilbert (Mr Big), Gordon Giltrap, Robert Plant (Led Zeppelin) to name but a few!
