Crumbs For Comfort

Crumbs For Comfort

Crumbs for Comfort played as special guest act at the MusicRadar Live and Unsigned Tour in Ipswich. The nu-folk band returned to their roots and took Suffolk by storm as they headlined the Regional Finals.

Crumbs for Comfort would describe themselves as "being thunderous and ender in equal measure, writing songs about Truth, Heritage, Place, and seldom mentioning the word Love; then playing them live, loudly, with electrifying passion." Industry insiders have described the band as "the East's answer to Seth Lakeman"; compared us to Bombay Bicycle Club, to Mumford & Sons (Sony UK); "unique" and helping to popularise folk music  (Future  Music).

The band consist of Alex Brown - Vocals/Guitar, Ben Chenery - Guitars/Vocals, Colin Shaw - Drums/Vocals, Robert Vincent - Keys, Liam Brown - Keys and Jamie Scott - Bass

When asked about their progression as a band, Crumb's Bass player Jamie said: "2010 was a massive year for us, full of intent from the beginning. In January, following 18 months' development of material, fashioning keyboards and rhythms into acoustic harmonies, we played two watershed gigs at the acclaimed Norwich Arts Centre, presenting our transformation into a full six-piece live force. Two acoustic guitars, three soaring harmony vocals and multiple keyboards, all intricately woven across a bed of bass and rolling drums. The CFC sound arrived.

"In February, open-minded, we drove to Ipswich and auditioned for the 2010 Live & Unsigned competition. In the following months, armed with one of our (very) originals, the furiously paced "Lowestoft Bay", along with the unique best of our cover interpretations, as required by the competition, we played our way through to the National Final inside London's O2, at the IndigO2 venue, one of 60 acts from the thousands of entrants nationally.

"Along the way we were grateful to receive literally week after week of local print media support, radio play, and support from a growing and treasured loyal Facebook fan base.
We also enjoyed five live radio gigs, two of which Sue Marchant's BBC East show  were broadcast across all eight Eastern Counties.

"We were also chuffed at being picked by producer Nick Brine to record an E.P. at the idyllic and rustic Leeders Farm studio, owned by Dan Hawkins of The Darkness. We recorded in late summer and produced the five-track E.P. during autumn, our convention-defying instrumentation no deterrent to Leeders' engineer Alex Edmunds, whose understanding (and appreciation) of Crumfort captured our essence and contributed to an end result with which we're delighted.  We designed the artwork in November, the recordings were mastered by December, and our first professional studio E.P. is available now on iTunes and Amazon: The Good In You.

"Now it's 2011. We're as keen as ever and there's plenty to enjoy."
