The quirky Derbyshire music festival, which encourages all attendees to wear false beards for an annual world record attempt, beat strong opposition to be announced as winner of the 'Best Independent Festival' at the star-studded inaugural AIM independent music ceremony in Central London.

Bearded Theory Festival will be celebrating its fifth successful year in 2012 and has seen over 400 diverse artists perform over 5 stages and past acts include the Waterboys, Athlete, Dub Pistols, Alabama 3, Hawkwind, The Whip, King Blues , Eat Static, The Wonder Stuff , The Orb, Ade Edmondson, Dreadzone, Saw Doctors, the Undertones, Neville Staple, Banco De Gaia, New Model Army, Transglobal Underground, Union Jack, 3 Daft Monkeys, Dodgy, Pama International, Zion Train, Dr & The Medics, The Beat, Subgiant, Wagner and even the Cheeky Girls!

Music Lovers

Each year Bearded Theory receives thousands of requests from unsigned acts from around the region and across the UK applying to play at the festival, but spaces are always limited.

So for the 2012 festival, Bearded Theory is working in conjunction with the Live and Unsigned competition to find four acts to play at the renowned event. Acts will be chosen from the Derby heats to play a slot at Bearded Theory and the lucky winners will take to the stage in front of a crowd of thousands of music lovers.

Of the four Live and Unsigned acts to perform at the 2012 festival, one will be chosen to play main-stage at the 2013 festival - so it really is all to play for!
