|
Chris Grayston initially started off as a music promoter with tours and events across the UK for a period of eight years. This culminated in 1996 by Chris masterminding a packed Wembley for 12,000 people in three arenas. During this period Chris was approached by one of the acts to release their single and this instigated the creation of his own record label. This evolved over a period of 7 years into four labels boasting the release of over 100 singles released, over a million sales across the record label group, as well as releasing over ten compilations and albums until finally being taken over in a buy out in 2002. Additionally, Chris has also wrote and co-produced his own music, signing with records labels such as Sony, Elap, Central Station records (who include Danni Minogue, DJ Sammy, Ian Van Dahl and Coolio on their books) and Chris also got his band signed in the USA with New York based label Pacific Time resulting in chart success around the World. Chris has worked with varied acts and producers in the UK from SL2 (On a ragga tip) to Wide Boys (who recently remixed Sugababes and Rihanna) and Chris has furthermore worked on solo remix projects including a remix of "Pretty green eyes" which Ultrabeat took to number 2 in the National charts. Chris is presently head of A&R at Future Music who are the main sponsors of the Live and Unsigned competition. Future Music use the competition as one of their initiatives to discover and develop UK Bands and artists for professional management.
